The family lived in Khairatabad near Hyderabad and she completed her schooling in Vidyaranya High School and in Nasr School. Her step-father passed away during 2004.



Diya Mirza was introverted and unhappy as a child, and it was her parents, especially her mom, who instilled self-confidence and assisted her to break free from the barriers of low self-esteem.At the age of 16, after completing her 10th standard, she got a job with Sriven Multi-Tech in Hyderabad. This job paved her way to modeling assignments with Lipton, Emami amongst others.



With this exposure she was encouraged to participate in the 2000 Femina Miss India Beauty Pageant, which she did, came up the second runner-up and won three titles namely Femina Miss India-Pacific, Sony Viewer's Choice Award, and Miss Beautiful Smile. She went on to be crowned Miss Asia-Pacific on December 2, 2000 at Manila, making her the second Indian to win this award after a gap of 29 years.

Dia Mirza attended Vidyaranya High School For Boys And Girls, a school based on the teachings of Krishnamurti, and later Nasr School, in Kushnuma.



Dia Mirza Currently she lives in Bandra, Mumbai. To brush up on acting before Shootout at Lokhandwala, she took a one week course of cinema at New York



At the age of 16 she was working as a marketing executive at sriven Mult-tech in Hyderabad. She earned a monthly salary of Rs 5000, with a 15 per cent commision on every ad revenue She fetched for the company. She has done an advertising campaign which appeared in femina. After the pictures came out she was encouraged to participate in the Miss India competition. Thats when Miss India happned.



Her confidence belies her status in the industry. But it is her keen sense of direction and her intrinsic intelligence which makes her so poised and confident. She's all of 20 and yet has accomplished so much. Diya Mirza has a world of opportunities open to her and for the first time she's sure of what she wants to be.

Diya Mirza won the prestigious Miss Asia Pacific title at the beauty pageant held on 2 December, 2000, in Manila. She is the second Indian contestant to be crowned Miss Asia Pacific and the first in 29 years.



Her first film, opposite Madhavan - Rehaana Hai Tere Dil Mein did not make a big splash. But it spelt one thing - Diya Mirza had arrived.

Diya Mirza is currently working on a film with arjun rampal titled Deewanapan and she is extremly excited about the project.

Traveling was a great pleasure for Diya because she mentions that traveling is a great source of learning to her.

Diya is all prepared to hitch her wagon to a star. She is a young woman who is caring, sensitive, beautiful and loving.
