Emraan Hashmi (born as Emran Anwar Hashmi on 23 March 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian actor.Emran Anwar Hashmi was born to a Muslim father and Catholic mother. He changed his name to Farhaan Hashmi but recently reverted to his original name, albeit with an extra "a" as per numerology beliefs. His nickname is Emmi.

Hashmi made his debut in 2003 with the film Footpath however, it did not do well at the box office. He shot to fame with Murder (2004) which was his first hit.
