SOHAIL KHAN..........

With his second release 'Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya' declared a hit, Sohail Khan at last emerged from the shadow of being Salman Khan's kid brother. Sohail Khan is finally being recognised as a director of promise, but he is coy about his achievements. He has remained a totally down to earth person, choosing to remain behind the camera, letting his work speak for him.

From Auzaar to "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya" was definitely quite a jump box-office wise. There was a lot of contribution from everyone during the making of "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya". Salman had contributed in a big way, he was imitating what Atul Agnihotri (his Brother-in-law) used to do in real life while wooing his sister Baby (Alvira Khan). The film is about a guy who likes the girl and does things to prove his love for her. At the same time, he does not care a damn about her brother.

Being a part and parcel of Bollywood, Sohail has received a lot of flak too. From Auzaar to "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya", critics felt Sohail still had to brush up on his direction - this was proved wrong with his third venture, "Hello Brother", which silenced many of them. People said he was not technically very sound but he remained unruffled. He learnt many things from all his films.

Much before he could take up the decision of acting, many acting offers had come his way, even from Sooraj Barjatya. It is believed that Sooraj was quite impressed with Salman's youngest brother and had decided to cast him as his reel brother as well in "Hum Saath Saath Hain". But unfortunately, Sohail was quite tied down with his production works and had missed out on that opportunity which eventually went to Saif Ali Khan.

Moving away from Sohail the brother, director and now actor, let's talk about Sohail, the restaurateur. India Talkies, a series of theme-restaurants endorsed by Salman, Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Mahima Chaudhary and Karishma Kapoor, with Sohail and friend cum partner Bunty Walia. He will also look after filmmaking, handling events and shows and also ad films. So much for the kid brother. Happily married to Seema, Sohail is a contented man today. He is doing fine as a director with all the support from family, friends and well-wishers, lets hope he contributes a fare share of talent even to the medium of acting which he has lately been looking at...
