Together they went on to do films like Tum Mere Ho and Love Love Love. But unfortunately these films couldn't live up to the audience’s expectations. After doing eminently forgettable films like CID, Shaandaar, Sanam Bewaffa, Goonj, Radha Ka Sangam, Juhi Chawla hit the hotspot with Dharmesh Darshan's Lootere.

Her second innings in Bollywood had begun. A series of hits like Bol Radha Bol, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman shot her into the big league instantly. Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke got her the popular Filmfare trophy for the Best actress. And her next invitation was to star in Yash Chopra's Darr. Since most stars regard the summons from Yash Chopra as a badge of honours, as valid as an award, Juhi Chawla had finally arrived. The movie's success pitched her as contender to Madhuri Dixit's No.1 title. Suddenly she was being spoken in the same league as Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit.

Juhi continues to act in movies, and also makes appearances in many off-beat movies, rather than the mainstream cinema with which she started her career. She also appears in a number of TV ad commercials.

Mini Biography

A certain class and benevolence has always separated Juhi Chawla from her ilk. Her upbringing in a family where education, etiquette and propriety were given their due importance, Juhi was bound to imbibe all the sophistication to cultivate herself as a true lady.

A mother heading the hospitality of the Taj Group, primary education in Mumbai's Fort Convent, college education in HR and Sydenham and all those growing up years in South Mumbai led to the formation of the refined young actress of Bollywood. Before she became a heartthrob of the nation with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Juhi contested for Femina Miss India and won the crown. In 1984 she went to Miami representing India at the Miss Universe Pageant.

Though she did not win the title, she came back home loaded with experience, which she shared with the viewers on television. Though a beauty queen, Juhi successfully managed to steer clear of a sexy image and carved a niche of the innocent, vivacious girl in pigtails. She refused to star in films that could project her as a sexy and glamorous star. Lootere, for example, is one film which Juhi wasn't keen on doing as she thought it would ruin her 'girl' image. After friends cajoled her into doing it Juhi acquired the glamour tag too.

There has been no looking back since then. Yash Chopra signed Juhi for Darr a film which consolidated the actress's star value. On the personal front, Juhi is a thorough friend. Her commitment and a sense of attachment to her friends is for life. According to filmi journo and Chawla's college mate, Omar Qureshi, Juhi is a person to stick by her friends, newcomers or stars. That is how her firm friendship with Shah Rukh Khan started. SRK has ever been grateful to the star Juhi for agreeing to work opposite him, a newcomer then, in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman.

Juhi's trustworthiness and her trusting self is a quality that will keep her embedded on people's minds long after the star Juhi fades away into oblivion.
