MANOJ KUMAR...........

Date of Birth (Birthday): 24 July, 1937

Birth Place: Lahore, Punjab

Hari Krishna Goswami became Manoj Kumar after coming to Bombay and started his struggle as an actor. Some of the initial movies that he did were unheard of and even he remained unheard. But his passion and dedication helped him become the great actor that he is.

Some of Manoj Kumar's initial films were 'Fashion', 'Panchayat' and 'Chand' which did absolutely nothing for him. But he was not heartbroken. He believed in his abilities. He continued his struggle and this bore fruit. He came across some good movies like 'Hariyali Aur Raasta', 'Himalay Ki Godh Mein', 'Kanch Ki Gudiya', 'Who Koun Thi', 'Gumnaam', 'Do Badan' and 'Shaheed'.

His co-stars were Mala Sinha, Asha Parekh, Sadhana and Nanda. It was 'Shaheed' which brought the patriotic feelings out. The dream role of Bhagat Singh kindled the fire in him and from hereon Manoj Kumar did more such films. His patriotic films include 'Upkaar', 'Purab Aur Paschim', 'Shor' and 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan'. 'Kranti' had many big stars in it and went on to become one of the finest movies ever made. But after some time Manoj Kumar failed as a director. His movies 'Kalakaar', 'Clerk' and 'Kalyug aur Ramayan' could not do well for themselves. His latest movie, 'Jai Hind', had his son Kunal Goswami but could not do well.

But having won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievment Award was an additional feather in the cap.
