KUNAL KAPOOR.....



Biography:

Kunal started his career in bollywood as an assistant director to Rakesh Mehra in "Aks". However the call to be in front of a camera hac more of an effect on Kunal and he made his debut with Meenaxi: The tale of three cities" , which not only won him critical acclaim but also helped him establish his own footing and pace in the industry. Kunal has done a number of plays and has worked with Naseeruddin Shah's theatre group. He created a niche in the industry with Rang De Basanti which was a commercial success and went on to become the Official film sent by India to the Oscars.

Kunal Kapoor (born 18 October 1975) is an Indian actor.

Kunal's tryst with cinema began as a assistant director to Rakesh Mehra in "Aks". But the call for acting proved far stronger and Kunal found himself moving on. Making a most unconventional debut with "Meenaxi:The tale of three cities" , the critically acclaimed actor took things at his own pace thereafter. The film did not do well at the box office.

He has done a number of plays and has worked with Motley, a theatre group by Naseeruddin Shah.

He came into prominence with his following film Rang De Basanti (2006). The film was critically and commercially successful, and it was India's official entry to the Oscars and the Bafta's. His performance was acclaimed and he received a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award nomination.

He has also done a couple of ads. A film-buff, Kunal loves everything that goes into the making of a film- editing, cinematography, production design and all the other technicalities. He has recently decided to try out scriptwriting. His recent release was "Hatrick". He is starring in two films by Yash Raj Films:" Laaga Chunari Mein Daag" and "Aaja Nachle" (2007) and Ramesh Sippy's untitled film.

Recently he appeared in a celebrity talk show called "Koffee with Karan". He is the brand ambassador of Indian Terrain and Thums Up (India).



Kunal Kapoor was born on 17 October 1975, in a family, which was into construction business. He did his schooling in Mumbai and opted in the pre university college. Later he did his graduation in commerce and then a course in export management.

Kunal never dreamt to be an actor, rather he is not a person who makes plans, but loves to venture on any thing that excites him that moment. For instance, as a child he wanted to be an architect but by the time he had reached his twelfth he gave it up and made an entry into a Construction Company.

He even dabbled into stock market, export firm and textile unit. He spent 5-6 years of his life after college trying 30 different professions, where he was pampered and served everything in a platter. Indeed he was not a person with focus or dream, but yes his fortune of fame had not yet called him to mount the peak of glamour world.

Kunal ventured into ad films after trying all his interests. He did a couple of ads with Rakesh Mehra who was searching a man with a beard for his ad. He did a screen shot and his first ad was shot on Coke. After experiencing the energy and the charm on the set Kunal started chasing Rakesh Mehra for some work on the set. He assisted him in Aks as the assistant director in 2001. During the course of the movie he often initiated for any background acting. So, his first debut in the field of acting in films was on the background of Aks.



During the making of Aks Kunal and Manoj Bajpai became friends and the latter asked Kunal to meet Barry John if he aimed to be an actor. So the dreamer finally decided to destine in the world of acting and moved to Delhi to learn acting skills. He did theater with Barry John for couple of years.

After his return from the world of theatre Kunal got a call from the world acclaimed painter M.F Hussein for the audition of his movie 'Meenakshi' (in 2004). He was selected and casted against Tabu in the lead role. Though many did not notice the movie, it did make a good start.

In 2006 after the release of Rang De Basanti, the lanky hero made everybody swoon to his acting skills and looks. Though he is personified as a sweet and soft-spoken painter in the movie, many women acclaimed him as a sex symbol. In 2007 he has three films on his list, Hat Trick, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Naachley. Besides acting he loves everything that goes with the making of the film, like editing, cinematography, production design and all the other technicalities.
